You won’t believe your eyes, these gals are really guys!

This 75-minute energetic show starring Las Vegas’ longest running headliner Frank Marino as comic icon Joan Rivers features an all star cast of superstar female impersonators who not only recreate but almost uncannily duplicate the likenesses of stars ranging from Britney Spears to Cher, Diana Ross to Beyonce, and even Madonna and Dolly Parton have been known to stop by. Recently added was Pop’s newest sensation Lady Gaga as well as 6 of Sin City’s hottest male dancers which help make this one of Las Vegas’ most spectacular production shows.  Meanwhile, Marino in his role as the show’s emcee and star changes between every act bringing an  international whirlwind of couture to the stage with each spectacular entrance.

Marino always knew he would become a star, even as a small child, growing up in New York. What he didn’t realize was that he’d have to be dressed up in glittering Bob Mackie gowns, and strapped into towering Manolo Blahnik stilettos to do so. And that’s before he gets into his makeup, wigs and jewelry! “The ladder of success was even harder to climb wearing high heels!” Marino wittily quips.

Like a fine wine, Frank Marino keeps getting better with age.

After 25 years as the star of “An Evening at La Cage”, and never at a loss for words, Marino is an accomplished author, newscaster, columnist, spokesperson, and America’s favorite male actress. His first book, His Majesty, the Queen, was an immediate bestseller. His movie debut in the film Miss Congeniality 2 where he can be seen co-starring alongside Sandra Bullock was a blockbuster hit as well.

In 2005, Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman proclaimed February 1st, to be “Frank Marino Day.”  Frank also received a Key to the City, has a street, Frank Marino Drive, named after him, and is forever immortalized in the sidewalks of the neon jungle with 2 stars that bears his name on the Las Vegas Walk of Fame.  In 2009, Marino was named Las Vegas’ “Entertainer of the Century” by Today Magazine and after performing to over 10 million people, he is Guinness Book worthy of having the most performances on any Las Vegas stage.

From the moment he steps on stage you realize that there is no other entertainer like Frank Marino. It’s not just his campy voice, his smoothly electric performance, or even his impeccable selection of clever comedy material. It’s his energy, which of course is the key to putting on any live show. And in the case of Frank Marino, Niagara Falls could take lessons.

Tickets start at $39.00 mezzanine, $69.00 general admission, and $79.00 VIP plus all taxes and fees. Tickets available at Imperial Palace Box Office or by calling 888-777-7664.

Aerial Silk

Aerial silk (also known as aerial contortionaerial ribbonsaerial silksaerial tissuesfabricribbon, or tissu, depending on regional preference)[1] is a type of performance in which one or more artists perform aerial acrobatics while hanging from a special fabric. Performers climb the fabric without safety lines – that’s because the silk is their safety line. They use the fabric either for contortion (called “circus”) or ballet (called “Aerial Dance” – circus is preferred). Some routines employ the use of motors in the rigging so the acrobat can “fly” through the air, but silks are the most striking when they stay perfectly still. Some performers use dried or spray rosin on their hands and feet to increase the friction and grip on the fabric. Aerial silks acts were made famous by Isabelle Chasse in Cirque du Soleil’s show Quidam. Chasse was a famous contortionist who thought that the fabric would help show off her skills better than cane balancing or floor work. Ever since, silks have been associated with Cirque. Aerialists all over the world have made the art their own – adding tricks and coming up with new material for the whole circus world to adopt and enjoy.

Chinese Poles

Chinese poles are vertical poles of aluminium on which circus performers climb, slide down and hold poses. The poles are generally between 3 and 9 metres in height and approximately 3 to 4 inches in diameter.[1] Some poles have a slightly larger pole that rotates around the static central pole using ball bearings. This rotating pole allows a performer to spin on the vertical axis, giving a performer the ability to incorporate rate of spin into what would otherwise be static moves. bringing the body closer into the pole causes the performer to spin faster. A few Chinese pole tricks have been incorporated with erotic pole dancing techniques.

The poles are sometimes covered with rubber to improve grip. However, the rubber leaves burn marks on the Chinese pole artists’ shoulders.

The most famous trick is “the flag” where the artist hangs straight out from the pole with his or her hands. This requires a very strong upper body. A few people are able to do push ups in this position, and even fewer can rotate the legs around in a circle—this requires enormous core strength.

Rope

Corde lisse is an aerial circus skill or act that involves acrobatics on a vertically hanging rope. The name is French for “smooth rope”.

Corde lisse moves are normally a combination of held postures and drops using ropes normally made from soft cotton about 25-30mm thick. The technique is closely related to bothsilks, another aerial circus skill performed on one or two long strips of strong fabric, often in bright colours, and Spanish web. It requires great skill and strength. Performers do not have any kind of safety net or safety line, relying on their own strength and ability to prevent a fall.

It is possible for two (or more) people to perform on the same rope, although more than two is rare. The performers can hang off each other or be at different heights on the rope.

Rhythmic Gymnastics

Rythmic gymnastics is a sport in which individuals or teams of competitors (from 2 to 6 people) manipulate one or two apparatus: ropehoop, ballclubsribbon and Free (no apparatus, so called “floor routine”). An individual athlete only manipulates 1 apparatus at a time. When multiple gymnasts are performing a routine together a maximum of two types of apparatus may be distributed through the group. An athlete can exchange apparatus with a team member at any time through the routine. Therefore a athlete can manipulate up to two different apparatus through the duration of the routine. Rhythmic gymnastics is a sport that combines elements of balletgymnasticsdance, and apparatus manipulation. The victor is the participant who earns the most points, determined by a panel of judges, for leaps, balances, pirouettes (pivots), flexibilities, apparatus handling, execution, and artistic effect.
